BMVI funding
The Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) is relying on the 5G-TELK-NF project and is supporting the project within the framework of the funding guidelines with 3.9 million euros .
The federal government auctioned the 5G frequencies through the Federal Network Agency and used the proceeds to launch a funding program for innovative 5G projects. After the project was funded with 100,000 euros a year ago to carry out a feasibility study , another 10 outstanding projects nationwide have now been selected for further funding - including the 5G-TELK-NF project. Find out more about the "5G innovation competition as part of the 5x5G strategy" and the various projects on the BMVI website.
-TELK-NF
With the help of a 5G campus network, a high data transmission rate can be guaranteed, so that this new technology will be of great benefit to Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) -flying and the Automated and Connected Driving (ACD).
The fields of activity planned in the work packages will focus on various scenarios (inspections of wind turbines, air support during emergency operations, ACD on the highway, federal or country roads) in the application fields of UAV aviation and ACD. One of the main goals will also be the construction of a combined control center for UAV aviation and the ACD, from which the planned tests are to be conducted. The use cases mentioned here are being tested in various environments on the former airfield in Leck and on the GreenTEC campus in Enge-Sande as local are.
The term "5G campus network" refers to a geographically limited, local mobile network adapted for special requirements such as industrial communications. Thanks to 5G technology and the use of dedicated frequencies, it can meet the highest quality of service requirements in terms of latency, reliability and availability of communication networks. This makes 5G campus networks attractive for applications in various industrial sectors. That is why they are considered an important enabler for the factory of the future and are currently the subject of numerous media reports.

WHAT DOES 5G-TELK-NF STAND FOR?
5G stands for the new generation of mobile communications, with TELK standing for the four municipalities of Tinningstedt, Enge-Sande, Leck and Klixbüll. Because these are the communities that are involved in the project, which is intended to serve Automated and Connected Driving and the operation of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles.
NF stands for the location of the project, which is being carried out in North Frisia (NF) on the GreenTEC campus in Enge-Sande and on the former military airfield in Leck.
